EOL (Eteläsuomalaisen Osakunnan Laulajat) is an artistically ambitious chamber choir formed of students and former students from the Helsinki metropolitan area. We sing mostly unaccompanied classical choral music, with a certain focus on Renaissance polyphony. The choir gives about a dozen performances a year, in concerts, academic soirées, and annual charity gigs. The choir finances it’s activity with concerts, paid quartett-gigs and biannual membership fees.
In addition to singing we like to spend time together over a pint, by playing minigolf or other summer games in the summer and in all kinds of parties throughout year e.g. housewarming parties, movie nights, banquets and board game nights. EOL’s artistic director is BMus Eleriin Müüripeal.
We rehearse on Wednesdays from 6 to 9 PM at Good will’s chapel in Jätkäsaari (Länsisatamankatu 26-28). The entrance is on the Jätkäsaarenkuja side, on the square. If the door is locked, feel free to press the doorbell to join us!
We are inviting enthusiastic singers with some musical background and the ability to read sheet music to join our choir. EOL performs regularly, and we wish to make music with ambition. Therefore we hope you will be excited to promote this goal together with others, but keeping in mind the fun of singing together!
In EOL you have the possibility to develop as a singer and to experience new things in music! Everyone has a chance to sing in a small group or even as a soloist. We are a nice group of people with different backgrounds and diverse fields of work or study. Welcome to audition for us!
The official auditions are held at the beginning of every semester, but new singers are welcome to audition in most rehearsals. Before the audition, please contact our artistic director
(johtaja@kamarikuoroeol.net) and inform them that you are coming. If you have any questions, you can also email them.
The official auditions for fall 2023 are held on September 6th and 13th.
When you come to audition
- Be prepared to sing an easy, unaccompanied song that you know well.
- Be prepared to sing Pastyme with good company with three other singers as a quartet. You don’t have to know the words, you can sing with “du” or some other syllable if you wish.
- Fill out this form and bring it with you, if you can. It makes the audition go more swiftly.
